POSITION SUMMARY & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Over the past 8 years, Fashion for Good has established itself as the go-to platform for sustainable fashion innovation on a global level. On the back of 50+ investments in fashion innovators since 2018, Fashion For Good built a reputation of being an active investor in both early and later stage innovators.

As we are entering our next phase of growth, we are looking for an Investment Associate who can work with the Investment Manager to drive the direct investments and investment-related activities that Fashion For Good performs. As part of the Investments team, she/he will be responsible for Fashion For Good’s early-stage direct investment strategy (up to 10 investments totaling EUR 1m per year), as well as other activities to unlock additional external funding for disruptive innovators. At scale, these innovations will generate a significant, positive impact in global apparel and footwear supply chains.

Along with the Investment Manager, the Investment Associate is responsible for the following areas:

Direct investments

• Screening and in-depth due diligence (together with Fashion for Good’s technical experts) on (generally early-stage) potentially interesting investments.

• Present investment propositions to the investment committee, and work with innovators to execute approved transactions (~5-10 transactions p.a.)

• Conduct company and market research and maintain the deal pipeline.

• Monitor the performance of the investments and compare performance to relevant benchmarks.

• Work directly with management teams of portfolio companies to support and scale their ventures.

• Provide quarterly reporting to management and support annual interactions with the auditor.

Innovator support and investor network

• Provide support to Fashion For Good innovators on their business plan, pitch deck, and fundraising strategy.

• Facilitate (external) investor-innovator introductions to catalyze funding for Fashion For Good innovators globally.

• Develop and maintain a strong network with venture capitalists, corporate venture capital departments, and other key stakeholders that are involved in making fashion sustainable.

• Host investment-focused sessions for Fashion For Good innovators and key investor contacts.

Business development and thought leadership

• Explore and implement debt and project financing advisory services, strengthening the relevant knowledge, reputation and network.

• Thought leadership: publication of thought leadership pieces and reports to further build knowledge and awareness in the ecosystem

• Support the ongoing development of Fashion For Good’s other fund management activities, including fundraising and marketing activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate has a relevant track record and combines strong interpersonal skills with the self-starting, pro-active attitude required for Fashion For Good’s fast paced, innovation-driven environment. The following qualifications are essential:

• 3+ years of work experience with exposure to the full VC transaction cycle, from origination to deal completion to exit, preferably including value creation in and scaling of portfolio companies.

• Strong relationship management skills; shows confidence in communications.

• Demonstrable affinity with sustainability and science-based / hard technologies.

• Intellectual curiosity and an affinity for analytical rigour.

• Capacity to adapt to different work environments, easily navigating different cultures and organisation settings.

• Excellent written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills.

• Proactiveness, enthusiasm, can-do attitude, comfort in dealing with uncertainty.

EDUCATION

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree within finance, business, economics, (textile) engineering, chemistry or biotechnology.

LANGUAGES

Proficiency in English is a requirement.
